10 Point Plan for Clergy
In Pastores Dabo Vobis Pope St John Paul II talked about the fundamental relationship of the priest to Christ as Head and Shepherd, the service priests render to the Church and the World, the specific priestly vocation to holiness and Gospel radicalism, our dedication to a particular Church (in our case the Church of Sydney), and what is required to sustain and nurture all this.
Our formation and support, he argued, must continue until we are so conformed to Christ as Head and Shepherd that we are ready to join Him in heaven.
Until then, there will be four fields of ongoing formation and support – human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral – that require conscious efforts both by each man himself and by the Church in the form of the Bishop and his collaborators. To aid in the formation and support of these four fields, I am launching today a 10-Point Plan for clergy well-being. – Archbishop ANTHONY FISHER OP
